The challenge
The Arc Northland advocates for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and that work generates sensitive records staff need to find, update, and report on every day. Off-the-shelf tools were too generic or too costly, and consumer data has to stay private and secure. They needed a system built around how they actually work.
What we did
We designed and built a custom web application to manage consumer information records end to end. Staff sign in to a clean, accessible portal to create, view, edit, and search records, with sortable columns and saved searches unique to each user. A role system controls exactly who can view, create, edit, remove, and report, and sensitive fields are encrypted before they ever reach the database. Administrators build reusable reports, and anyone can export results to Excel or CSV. It runs on an on-site server behind HTTPS.
The outcome
A secure, role-aware system that fits the way The Arc Northland works, not the other way around. We kept building and refining it with them over several years, adding fields, reports, and capabilities as their needs grew.
